BTSO Brings Its Members Together With The British Companies

The Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) and the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey will focus on the co-operation between the Bursa and British companies as per the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two chambers in the presence of Mr. İlker Duran and Mr. Aytuğ Onur, Members of the Board of Directors of BTSO, Mr. Leigh Turner, British Consul-General Istanbul and Director-General of Trade for Turkey, Central Asia and the South Caucasus, Mr. Christopher William James Gaunt, Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey, Mr. Hüseyin Güler, PhD, Secretary General of BTSO, and businessmen Hüseyin Durmaz and Abdullah Şişman. 

The Memorandum of Understanding involves the exchange of information of the companies in the two countries on commerce, investment, technology transfer, technical and vocational experience, economic and commercial regulations. As per the memorandum, the companies in Turkey and Britain will organize seminars, conferences and training programs to foster the bilateral investment and economic relations and will exchange with each other the ways to do business reciprocally.

Mr. İlker Duran said “Bursa hosts 12 British companies and this figure should increase. We would like to benefit from the technological infrastructure of the British companies.”

Mr. Aytuğ Onur said that Britain is an important partner and that Bursa is the second exporter city of Turkey. He added that the enhancement of the commercial relations between the Bursa and British companies offers an important opportunity for Britain, as well.

Mr. Leigh Turner said “We are aware of the economic strength of Bursa and Turkey particularly in the automotive industry and the memorandum of understanding is signed in this context. Britain is the fifth biggest economy in the world with a rapid growth rate.”

Mr. Christopher William James Gaunt said that the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey aims at increasing the bilateral trade between the two countries by joint ventures and investments.

Mr. Hüseyin Güler said “BTSO is a remarkable institution not only with its projects, but with its subsidiaries, as well. In this context, we would be glad to benefit from your experiences in the fields of techno parks, vocational competencies, technical textile, space, aviation and defense.”
