Members Of The BTSO Space-Aviation-Defense Cluster visited NASA, Airbus And Boeing In The USA

Mr. İlker Duran, member of the Board of Directors of BTSO, Mr. Mustafa Hatipoğlu, PhD, Chairman of the Space-Aviation-Defense Council and Leader of Cluster and 18 members of the BTSO Space-Aviation-Defense Cluster visited some sights in the USA in the fields of space and aviation. The delegation visited the NBAA Aviation Trade Show in Orlando and the Space Flight Control Center at NASA and met with Mr. Dan Seal, Leader of Houston Regional Aviation Cluster and Mr. Sırrı Oğuz, the Turkish Scientist at NASA who is originally from Bursa.

The BTSO delegation visited the Space Museum in Houston and was briefed on the trainings given at the space shuttles. In addition, the BTSO delegation informed Ms. Melanie Johnson, Director of Space Museum, on the BTSO Space-Aviation-Defense Cluster and the Gökmen Project and discussed future co-operation possibilities.

Besides, the BTSO delegation met with Mr. Genaro Pena, Deputy Director of Houston Investment Collaboration, to discuss the co-operation areas, and also Mr. Ferhat Alkan, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Houston, and Mr. Engin Yaşar, Houston Commercial Attache of the Turkish Consulate General Office, and informed them on Bursa and the projects of the BTSO.

The delegation exchanged views and ideas with the space and aviation companies in the region and conducted meetings with the Mobile County Governorship, Alabama and Sugar Land Chamber of Commerce, Texas. 

The delegation had the opportunity to visit the new factory of Airbus where the members were informed on the activities and investments of the company.

At the end of the visit, Mr. İlker Duran and Mr. Mustafa Hatipoğlu said that the trip to the USA was fruitful in terms of the site visits in the fields of space, aviation and defense such as NASA, Boeing and Airbus.  

Mr. İbrahim Burkay, President of the Board of Directors of BTSO, said that the BTSO delegation had useful meetings in the USA. He added that the Bursa is planned to be one of the important centers of the space, aviation and defense sectors.
