BTSO hosted scientists working at CERN

Within the Bursa Innovation and Design Meetings which was organized by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), Turkish scientists working at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, shared with participants their knowledge and experiences about subjects such as innovations that science discovers and its contributions to the community life and industry.

BTSO hosted a seminar on “CERN - Accelerator of Science -, and Industrial Applications” having Mr. Gökhan Ünel, PhD, Mr. Sezen Sekman, PhD and Mr. Serkant Ali Çetin, PhD working at CERN, one of the most prestigious scientific research centers of the world, as speakers. Mr. Vedat Müftüoğlu, Deputy Governor, Mr. Aykan Erdemir, Member of the Parliament representing Bursa, Mr. Şakir Umutkan, Member of the Board of Directors of BTSO, Mr. Mümin Ceyhan, President of the 7th Professional Committee of BTSO, academicians, students and several guests attended the meeting.

Mr. Şakir Umutkan said that the way to protect and develop sustainable competitiveness is through transformation of knowledge to technology manufacturing. Mr. Umutkan reminded that the status of member associate to CERN of Turkey was approved recently. He said “Many technological developments happen in various fields of electronics, telecommunication, nanoscience, material science, nuclear medicine, information technology, defense industry and various branches of engineering as a result of the tests carried out at CERN. Thanks to these scientific studies, our companies will be able to create new products, to penetrate into new markets and to apply new technologies.”

Mr. Vedat Müftüoğlu said that the importance given to science and industry should increase day by day in order for Turkey to realize its goals.

Mr. Mümin Ceyhan said that they believe that the countries fail to develop without science and research & development and thus, 7th Professional Committee of BTSO organized the seminar hosting Turkish scientists working at CERN.
