Turkish Patent Industrial Property Consultancy Unit
The Industrial Property Advisory Unit of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), operating within our Chamber, provides services with the aim of protecting innovative ideas, which are among the most important drivers of local development and global competitiveness.
Within this scope, our unit offers information and documentation services to all our members who wish to apply for trademarks, patents, industrial designs, geographical indications, and utility models, which are the fundamental pillars of industrial property rights. We provide guidance to our members throughout the process, from the idea stage to registration, and organize seminars throughout the year.
During the preliminary research stage, which is the first step of the registration process, similarity and novelty searches are conducted through national and international databases. Our unit serves as a bridge between our members and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and provides guidance throughout the registration process.
As part of the efforts to preserve our city's rich cultural heritage, geographical indication registrations have been obtained for important local values such as Bursa Candied Chestnuts, Bursa Walnut Turkish Delight, Bursa Cantık, Bursa Tahini Pide, Bursa Grape Must, Bursa Milk Halva, and Bursa Döner Kebab. In addition, Bursa Candied Chestnuts, which has achieved remarkable success on a global scale, is also protected through registration by the European Union. Throughout the year, our unit is responsible for auditing and reporting companies that use these geographical indications, while also carrying out various awareness-raising activities to increase understanding of geographical indications at the local level.
