University-Industry Co-Operation Gets Stronger In Bursa

ULUTEK Technology Development Zone (ULUTEK) and Uludağ University Technology Transfer Office (UU TTO) that are both subsidiaries of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) join their forces for university-industry co-operation. Mr. İbrahim Burkay, President of the Board of Directors of both ULUTEK and UU TTO, said that the co-operation protocol that is signed by Mr. Burkay and Mr. İrfan Karagöz, President of the Board of Directors of UU TTO, intends the rapid transformation of the technology-based ideas to products and the increase in the number of R&D companies.

Mr. Burkay said that there are 52 technology and development zones in Turkey and that each technology development zone should establish its own technology transfer office until the end of March. He added that by joining their forces, ULUTEK and UU TTO will develop projects which will be supported by the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and information and research activities between the university and the industry will increase that will lead to closer contact of the academicians and the industrialists.

Mr. Burkay declared that BTSO gives much importance to the establishment of R&D centers in Bursa and R&D has a significant role in reaching the 2023 goals of Bursa. He added that 23 companies in Bursa already have got R&D centers and that the protocol between the ULUTEK and UU TTO intends to increase the number of the R&D companies. 

The protocol will enhance the information, coordination and research activities between the university and the industry and highlight the protection, marketing, sales and transfer of the intellectual property rights and speed up the process of transformation of scientific findings to products.
