The Biggest Companies of Bursa have Become Clear

Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry explained the results of 2014 “Bursa Top 250 Big Company Research” which is one of the most important field researches that sheds light on the urban economy. Mr. İbrahim Burkay; President of the Board of Directors of BTSO said that “The profitability of our companies increased by 39% in 2014. Research results show us that the risk management of our companies is well.”

After a press conference held in Altıparmak Branch Office, President Mr. Burkay explained the results of the Bursa Top 250 Big Company Research with Mr. Fahrettin Gülener and Mr. Şakir Umutkan; Members of the Board of Directors. While he was revealing companies’ turnover, export, employment, value-added, profitability, equity capital and net assets, he expressed they presented important findings for the economy of the city and country.

DEVELOPMENTS IN THE WORLD HAS BEEN AFFECTING MOSTLY BURSA

Mr. İbrahim Burkay, who pointed out that Bursa which is the second most exporting city that is affected most from developments in the World more than other cities said that “As you know, a difficult period has begun as from 2008 in the world economy, unexpected geopolitical developments in neighboring countries and close markets have affected our growing and trade performance in a negative way.” Mr. Burkay who expressed that Turkey’s economy growed by 2.9% in 2014, export rate increased by 3.8%, unemployment rate rose to 9.9%, told that the export of Bursa has decreased by 0.8, and the unemployment rate which was 6.6% in 2013 has declined to 6.2%.

 “PROFITABILITY OF COMPANIES HAS INCREASED BY 39%”

Mr. Burkay; President of the Board of Directors of BTSO said that “According to the results of Bursa Top 250 Big Company Research, profits, production sales, turnover and value-added of our companies have increased in real terms. While the increase in our 250 big companies’ employment is restricted, their export rates are declined. Period income of our Top 250 Big Companies rose by 39% compared to the previous year. As well as the increase in exchange rates with financial conditions that occurred in 2014, decline in financing costs reflected to our companies’ profit performance in a positive way. Period incomes rose by 39% compared to 2013 in our companies that manage their financial risks a lot better, increase especially exchange income.”

“BTSO DIRECTS THE URBAN ECONOMY”

Mr. İbrahim Burkay who expresses that the projects BTSO puts into practice for making real sectoral diversity and transformation in industry direct the urban economy, and said that “The performance that our 250 biggest companies made in 2014 for the transition to the production with high added value, also has a great importance for Bursa and national economy. The 250 big companies of Bursa had almost 15% in value-added compared to 2013.”

“IMPORTANCE OF THE SECTORAL DIVERSITY HAS BEEN REVEALED”

Mr. Burkay who expresses that automotive industry has taken the first place in value-added shares of sectors said that “Although automotive sector has taken the first place in this field with 36 percent value-added share, risks occurring in the sector reveal the importance of the sector diversity in our city, and the activities for realizing the transformation in industry.” Mr. İbrahim Burkay; President of the Board of Directors of BTSO congratulated all companies for their contributions to the urban and national economy at the end of his speech.

COMPANIES RANKING AMONG THE TOP TEN

According to the “Bursa Top 250 Big Company Research” in terms of the turnover size, companies ranking among the top ten are in order; Oyak Renault, Tofaş, Bosch, Sütaş, Bursa Eczacılar Kooperatifi, Türk Prysmian, Özdilek, Asil Çelik and Componenta. Oyak Renault, Tofaş and Bosch are also the companies sharing first three ranks again in export, production sales and value-added. While Tofaş is taking the first place in period income, Oyak Renault and Korteks follow it.

While Tofaş is the first again in companies’ ranking according to their net assets, Zorlu Enerji and Bosch take the second and third place. Companies which employ the maximum are in order; Bosch, Tofaş and Oyak Renault. Gemlik Gübre follows Tofaş and Oyak Renault by ranking in the first according to the equity capital in Bursa.

THERE ARE 38 NEW COMPANIES IN LIST

While the turnover of top 10 big companies was 44.4 % in 2013 in the total turnover of 250 big companies, it became 42,4 % in 2014. While these companies’ shares in export were decreasing from 66.7% to 64.2%, their employment shares increased from 24.8% to 25.4. In 2014, total 38 new companies entered into the 250 big companies. Among new companies entering into the 250 big companies list, textile and ready-made clothing sectors have led the way with 10 companies.
