Establishment of Sectoral Centres of Excellence for Increasing the Quality of Vocational and Technical Education Grant Programme (IQVET-III)

New Generation Vehicle Technologies Sectoral Vocational Education and Training Competence and Development Centre Project

The call for proposals titled *“Establishment of Sectoral Centres of Excellence for Increasing the Quality of Vocational and Technical Education Grant Programme (IQVET-III) (EuropeAid/167773/ID/ACT/TR)”*, implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA II 2014–2020), has been published. With a total budget of 10 million euros, the grant programme aims to establish a flexible, transparent, innovative, and high-quality education system that supports social and economic development and prepares individuals for employment, enabling all segments of society to access learning opportunities in line with their own needs.

Within the scope of this programme, our Chamber’s project titled "New Generation Vehicle Technologies Sectoral Vocational Education and Training Competence and Development Centre (SCVCD)" was awarded funding following its application. The contract was signed in December with the Directorate for EU and Financial Assistance of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services. As of February, the project implementation period has commenced.

Project Objective

This project aims to establish a Sectoral Centre of Excellence in the field of New Generation Vehicle Technologies (Electric, Hybrid, Autonomous) at BTSO Training Foundation (BUTGEM), enhance the existing training infrastructure, develop in-service training programmes and training materials related to new generation vehicle technologies, strengthen the capacity of vocational teachers through blended learning models, and increase awareness of vocational education through activities organized by the business community. It also aims to enhance the cooperation capacity among vocational education stakeholders.

Within the scope of the project, in-service training programmes on the following topics will be delivered at BTSO Training Foundation – BUTGEM, and workshops and laboratories will be established:

- Electric vehicles
- Hybrid vehicles
- Autonomous vehicles
- Vehicle electronics
